Basil, arrived at Antioch in April, 372, where he leftnothing unattempted {403} to draw Meletius over to the interest of hissect; but meeting with no success, ordered him a third time intobanishment. His body was found incorrupt in 1063, and placed in amonument on the side of the high altar: and in 1170 it was enshrined ina silver case. ow much the fervent disciple improved himself in theschool of this humble master, in the maxims of Christian perfection. What gave him the greatest affliction was hisnot being able to fast on an Easter-Eve, a day on which, says John thedeacon, every one, not even excepting little children, are used to fast.

Boisil on the 7th of August; but inthe Scottish calendars his name occurs on the 23d of February.
